You're My October
by Rory Noelle
This morning autumn draped its first cold shawl;
I drew my brown cardigan close against it all.
And stepping out beneath the kindled trees,
I found you in the falling of the leaves.
The maples loosed their embers to the air,
and where each one touched ground, I met you there.
I carved the pumpkin hollow, lit it through;
now every night it burns in vigil for you.
You're my October, all the beauty I can see,
and when November comes, I hope you think of me.
Let every flame grow faint, let autumn go;
I'll know you by the falling of the snow.
16 days until You're the Snow.
November 1.
